On AI agents that read users' messages, Whittaker said For us, this is existential because if we continue down this path, if AI continues down this path with what I would call these very reckless architectures from a security and privacy perspective, we're looking at Signal not being able to operate with integrity.
The Signal president singled out Meta's Muse agent, which she said has access to all of your messages. Asked whether AI ethics critics underrated capability, she said we need to take the security and privacy concerns deadly seriously and that the real risks also include the consolidation of power in the AI industry.
